I’ve been a big fan of Mark Nepo after hearing him give a lecture at an Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) Conference years ago. Both his prose and his poems are pearls, or blossoms if you prefer, that draw us in and speak to many of us. He continually reminds me to stay true to myself and freely share that with the world. Then, without struggle, the bees will come.
Hi Kathy, I love how you reinforce the philosophy of staying “true to myself.” I also have goosebumps right now. The word that continues to surface for me this year is “share.” I need to pay attention. Thank you for sharing:)
Hi Erica! Sharing is a good word for us all to remember….thank YOU for sharing that! ~Kathy
Speaking of “sharing” Kathy, I just downloaded “Positive Aging” to my Kindle app. I look forward to reading and absorbing more of your wisdom:) ?
Hi Erica. Thank you. I hope you enjoy it….I’m betting you already know most of what’s in there but like me, can always use the reminders. And yes, I would REALLY appreciate an honest review on Amazon when you’re done. ~Kathy
Until you mentioned it just now, Kathy, I have never done a review on Amazon or anywhere (only word of mouth to friends). Thanks for bringing this to my attention. With blogging, I am now often meeting amazing writers who do not get the publicity they deserve. I read many books, especially when we are camping. We just returned from Long Beach, “my happy place” lol. Something tells me I will like this book, since I like the author:)
Hi Erica! REALLY? You’ve never written an Amazon review before? It REALLY helps authors like me because we don’t have a huge advertising budget…ha, ha, ha…we usually don’t have an advertising budget at all. And an honest review is always helpful. It is very important to me that people see what a person really thought of the book rather than just one friend saying how much she likes the person!!! So if you are so inclined I would REALLY appreciate it….hmmmmm….I really like the world really don’t I? ~Kathy
I may not be true to this message in all aspects of life but in blogging, I think I am. Thank you for the gentle reminder to be ourselves. My blog is not making money or bringing in hundreds of views but it is attracting people that I truly connect with. And those who seem to connect with me. Just because I am being ME on my blog. Does that make any sense?
Trying to force something never ends well. I like this simple concept of simply being…beautiful quote.
Beautiful quote and a good reminder to stay true to ourselves.
Hi Janis! Oh yes. Something I personally like/need to hear every single day. ~Kathy
This is a very powerful quote, Kathy. Letting go of the constant struggle to be is very inspiring!
Hi Donna! Yes…that’s the way I saw this quote myself but I’m enjoying the others interpretation as well. ~Kathy
Buzzzzzz…
Hi Nancy! Be the bee? Or be the blossom? Either way, be true to yourself! ~Kathy
Maybe this should be my writing mantra. Action over dreaming. The reality of life choices.
Hi Beth! Thanks for adding a new perception to this quote that I really wasn’t thinking of…I was seeing it more as a statement of staying true to myself and letting what comes, come. But as you point out, it is also a statement about action over dreaming. A multi-layered quote for sure! ~Kathy
This is a good one Kathy!! Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome, as always, Haralee!
I hadn’t heard of Mark Nepo before Kathy – but I love this quote and will head off to look up some more from him. Anyone who advocates these type of ideas appeals to me and my world view. Thanks for sharing him.
Hi Leanne! As always I’m happy to introduce great writers to my friends. Mark Nepo isn’t as well known as David Whyte but has some very lovely things to say. ~Kathy
Lovely thought. I have to wonder how much better the world would be if everyone adhered to this idea. Greed and ego seem to have taken over…
Hi Ally! Yes…a simple but important thing for us all to remember, huh? ~Kathy
