Do you listen to podcasts? Last month I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Kim Acedo on her podcast Me Time Midlife Podcast. I enjoyed our “chat” so much and the opportunity to talk about rightsizing that I decided that this week while traveling I would share the episode with all of you.
I don’t know about you, but it took me a while to get into podcasts. Most of them do take a bit more time to listen to—but they are also very portable when on the move. Once I discovered how easily I could download them to my iphone, I now take them with me when I walk in the morning and/or when driving. You can’t do that while reading a blog post! Of course just like any media, I am careful to listen only to podcasts that provide positive, helpful and uplifting information. Fortunately there are hundreds of them. And I’m happy to say that Kim’s podcast as well as her blog Transformation Wellness for Women fits that description perfectly.
So please take the time to listen to this podcast and let me know what you think. And to make it even easier for you to provide feedback, I’m putting a short questionnaire at the end of this post. So, even if you don’t want to make a comment, I’d REALLY appreciate it if you would take a minute to answer a couple of questions. Thanks in advance for that!
And here is a link to the podcast!
Hi Kathy! I’m still catching up on a few things these last days I have internet for a while. I still have the link to your podcast open in my browser, where it is waiting for me to have some extra time online. This might happen in a week or a month or who knows. I’ll certainly let you know what I think when I get to it. I never listen to podcasts, but am willing to give it a try, as I “voted” in your questionnaire above.
Hi Liesbet! If you get the chance I would LOVE some feedback. Thanks! ~Kathy
Wow, that was like having you in my living room for a nice chat (except I couldn’t get a word in edgewise 🙂 ). You did such a great job! I’m afraid that I would trip all over my words in that environment, but you were so mentally organized and spoke clearly and thoughtfully. I listen to podcasts (mostly This American Life) while I walk or do gardening. I need to figure out the best way to discover new podcasts that dovetail with my interests… I know there are a ton out there and it would be nice to have a few more lined up. I am looking forward to hearing more from you!
Hi Kathy, I read the responses and interesting information on the hearing aids and how you can directly stream music/podcasts to your ears. I enjoy listening to podcasts usually when commuting. Many of the podcasts are one to two hours long. I prefer 30 minutes in length. It may depend on the topics discussed.
I found this podcast similar to your writing, Kathy. Candid, genuine, engaging, informative. I found it flowed well. I like how you said Rightsizing is very individual, not a judgement or comparison.
This is the first time I have listened to Kim. I like Kim’s questions and how she gave you the opportunity to comfortably make your point and answer the questions. I look forward to listening to Kim’s other guests.
I enjoy both reading favourite blogs and listening to podcasts. I am with you on trying to allow only positive, helpful, uplifting media into my life. You are very much part of this, Kathy. Thank you!
Hi Erica! Thanks for chiming in and letting me know what you think of podcasts and my interview. I agree that 30 minutes is much easier to squeeze into a day than a couple of hour one…but like you we’ve listened to a couple on our road trip and the length didn’t matter at all as long as the topic was good and the people relatively easy to listen to. Thank you for saying you found mine agreeable 🙂 And let’s continue to do our best to spread positive, helpful and uplifting news into the world! ~Kathy
It sounds like you and Thom listen to some of them together. Same with Chuck and I depending on the topic. I emailed the above link to Chuck. A joy to meet you this Summer!
Hi Kathy, I enjoyed your conversation with Kim. You have a pleasant, clear manner of speaking and your thoughts were well composed. You made listening easy and I learned a lot about the message you are sharing through your blog. Kim would be smart to have you back again.
I can personally relate to your words and encourage others to begin rightsizing now, rather than later. Identifying what truly makes you happy is a good place to begin.
I am happy to have found your blog and look forward to reading more post.
Hi Suzanne! Welcome to SMART Living. Thanks for stopping by AND for listening to the podcast. It was fun to do but it is also really nice to know I made sense. As a writer I tend to prefer to “edit” my thoughts before I put them out to others, if you know what I mean? I look forward to checking out your blog and hope look forward to hearing from you again. ~Kathy
Good podcast Kathy! I felt I learned a lot about you and you are so clear about Smartliving!
Hi Haralee! Thank you. You’ve been following this blog for so long now I consider it a great compliment that you felt you STILL learned something about me 🙂 . I appreciate you taking the time to listen and share your thoughts. ~Kathy
I’m slowly moving to podcasts fo walking the track and on the crosstrainer although I need to get used to the headphone thing. I especially like the Minimalists, something called the alternative food network, one called Fearless Aging and a couple creative ones.
Hi Barb! Yes, like I said in my reply to Tom Sightings, having an easy way to listen makes a huge difference. My hearing aids make it almost seamless. And thanks for your recommendations. I’ve heard the minimalists but not the Fearless Aging. I will check them out. ~Kathy
Hi, Kathy – I just listened to your podcast. It was my first one ever!
Very fun and informative. It was lovely to hear your voice as well!
I’m looking forward to hearing more of these from you.
Hi Donna! I’m feeling honored that I was your first 🙂 . And yes, glad to hear you enjoyed it too because as you know…more of them just might be in my future. ~Kathy
Thanks for the link which I’m gonna check out. Only podcast I’ve listened to so far is the series called Hardcore History by Dan Carlin. But I just got earbuds for my phone, so maybe I’ll do more now.
Hi Tom! One of the best things about wearing hearing aids these days is that I can stream music or podcasts directly to my “ears” using them with my iphone. I love it. I just download the podcast to my phone and away I go. No one even knows I’m listening and I don’t have to fuss with ear buds. Not only can I “hear” what is being said, it is now so easy I love it. Are your new earbuds wireless? That will help for sure. And thanks for the recommendation. ~Kathy
